Vision, Mission and Mandates

 
         The Department of Mineral Resources (DMR) is the main governmental organization applying its geological knowledge and information to help increase life quality and the economic and social development. The DMR serves the country as a geological fact-finding agency that predominantly studies and researches minerals, fundamental and applied geology in order to provide geological understanding about natural resources condition, as well as issues or problems related to geological process and phenomena.
 
 
VISION
         
           Department of Mineral Resources manages geology and geological resources through people's participation for the benefits and happiness of the whole society.
 
 
MISSION STATEMENT
          
          "We manage geology and geological resources with emphasis on the importance of people's participation.”
 
MANDATES

          According to the Ministerial Rule of Departmental Formation of the Department of Mineral Resources, B.E. 2545 (2002), issued under the Governmental Organization Reform Act, B.E. 2545 (2002), the mandates of the Department of Mineral Resources are listed below;
 
                    1. Recommending areas, policies and plans for preservation, conservation, rehabilitation of geological resources and administration of geological resources and activities.
 
                    2. Performing the functions as specified by the relevant sections of the Mineral Act.
 
                   3. Providing recommendations for improvement, amendment or issuance of laws, regulations and measures concerning administration of geological resources and activities, as well as monitoring and enforcing the relevant laws, regulations and measures.
 
                    4. Geological and mineral surveying, inspecting, studying, researching, knowledge developing, distributing and servicing, and cooperating in geology and mineral resources with other countries and international organizations.
 
                    5. Setting the geological and mineral standards, and preserving geological samples for the national reference.
 
                    6. Performing other functions as specified by laws, or as assigned by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment or the cabinet.
